The Maine Tree Farm Program can help you keep the property as a Tree Farm!

Tree Farm designation does not usually stay with the property when changing ownership outside of the family. However, depending on the method of acquisition, keeping the property as a Tree Farm could be as simple as updating the contact information on file.

Inheriting a Tree Farm

Keep the property as a Tree Farm by updating the contact information.

Purchasing a Tree Farm

Re-enroll the property as a Tree Farm by having an updated forest management plan and performing a site inspection.

Do you:

Have at least 10 contiguous acres?
Have a written Forest Management Plan aligned with our Sustainability Standards?
Manage your property for wood, water, wildlife, and recreational values?

If yes to ALL of the above, the Maine Tree Farm Program can send an inspecting forester to inspect your woodlot with you!

This is a complementary site visit with a Licensed Forester to confirm your stewardship activities match your Forest Management Plan and align with the American Tree Farm System Sustainability Standards.
